The journalist leaders said that the state remains at risk if the journalists remain at risk. The incidents of attack on the journalists are rising in recent times. The journalist leaders issued the threat while speaking at a human chain programme at Kawran Bazar intersection in Dhaka yesterday. Akhter Hossain, joint secretary of Dhaka Journalist Union (DUJ) said that Home Ministry and IGP office would be besieged if the attackers are not arrested immediately. Abu Jafar Surja, President of DUJ said, “We want professional assurance. Prime Minister Hasina is advancing the country. However, the journalists are not in a god position. The journalists are not given salary regularly.” “The newspapers owners were not in favour of the liberation. But the journalists were supporting Liberation War and Bangabandhu. Likewise, the newspapers were in favour of 1/11 government. However, the journalists were in favour of you.” said he.
