DOT Desk: ‘Love Point’ is located at Polwell park, Rangamati, Bangladesh. The spot got it’s name from a sad tale.
Bangladeshi expatriate living in the US Alauddin came for an excursion to Rangamati with his wife Eyerin Sultana Lima on 19 March, 2014. On that very day while cruising in Kaptai lake by an engine boat, a sudden strong wind rocked the boat, forcing panicky Lima jump to the water, to rescue her Alauddin also jumped to the lake water. Divers and rescuers couldn’t find them despite vigorous searching. After three days the mutually hugged dead bodies of Alauddin and Lima surfaced on 22 March. Even death couldn’t separate the loving couple! The rare scene of love and endearment overwhelmed the residents of hill town Rangamati. Dedicating to the underlying love of Alauddin and Lima the first ever Love point of the country has been built near the place where their dead bodies surfaced at Polwel park. In memory of not only this couple but to the timeless love of all the lovers of the world, the structure has been designed and built by Chattogram Hill Tracts Development Board.
