From tin shed house to World Cup winner
DOT Desk: Rakibul Hasan was not so familiar to Bangladeshis but in the last two days, there have been many talks about him worldwide for his heroic in the ICC U-19s World Cup final. You will be surprized to know the player came from a small tin shed house and make history to become a member of the Bangladesh World Cup-winning team. Rakibul is from the Bashati village of Rupsi UP in Phulpur Upazila of Mymensingh. On the occasion of the victory, there was a procession of joy at various places and sweets also fed, reports Daily Bangladesh. Locals said that Rakibul was born in the village but he did not live here permanently. His father Shahidul Islam lives in Dhaka. He is a driver by profession. Rakibul lives there with his family. However, they come to visit the village sometimes. When he comes to the village he meets with other teenagers of his old and plays cricket at the Rupsi high school field. Visiting Rakibul village, it is found that there is no one in the old Tin shed house, Rakibul’s father-in-law, Kamal Hossain lives with the family. Rakibul’s mother-in-law Rokhsana Khatun said Rakibul did not want to read much. He would love to play cricket and dreamed to play in the national team. That’s why he living with his family in Dhaka and now he brightened our nation. We are very happy with this achievement.
Talking to people of different age groups in the village, it was known that the villagers knew from the beginning of the tournament that Rakibul is playing for the Bangladesh team in the World Cup. Especially the village teenagers are more informed. Since the start of the World Cup, people from the village have gone to Rupsi Bazaar to watch the game of Rakibul.
Rakibul’s father Shahidul Islam wants to increase the happiness of the people of the village. He spoke with him on Monday afternoon. He said that the boy will come to the village when he comes home. I will share this joy with the people of the village.
