DOT Desk: Bangladeshi man drowned in the Ishamoti river after being chased by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at Maheshpur upazila in Jhenaidah on Friday afternoon (January 10), reports the Daily Sun.
The deceased was identified as Hridoy, 25, son of Sabur, hailing from Palianpur village of the upazila.
Morshed Hossain Khan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Moheshpur Police Station, said that Hridoy along with some Bangladeshis was returning from India on January 10. The BSF troops chased them from behind and they jumped into the river to save their lives. But all except Hridoy swim ashore.
Yesterday morning, locals spotted the floating body of Hridoy and retrieved from the river at 11:00 am.
