Humaira Akhter Antara has bagged a gold medal in karate in the 13th edition of South Asian Games in Nepal, bringing the fourth gold medal to Bangladesh in the event. The athlete found her way to the top in the women’s individual under-61kg weight category yesterday beating her Nepalese competitor by 5-2 points.
Karate gold medalist Humaira Akhter said yesterday that I have sacrificed a lot and have encountered many problems for achieving this. When my camp started, my university exams also started. All my classmates sat for the exam and got admission in Universities. But I couldn’t sit for exam. I thought playing for country is like fighting for the country.
“This gold medal is for the country”, she further stated.
“I dreamt of studying at Dhaka University. If the administration of Dhaka University gives me an opportunity to get admission, I shall be able to continue my study”, she added, reports SomoyTV.
