Kotwali police have arrested a gang of 15 mobile robbers in Chittagong city. After the arrest, they told police that they had been robbing mobile phones under the shelter of some mobile vendors in the Chittagong railway station. After robbing a mobile phone, they hand over phone to the vendors. In return, the vendors either give them pocket money or and ensure for their children the opportunity to study in the school.
The sub-commissioner of the city (South) SM Mehedi Hasan said they were arrested yesterday (December 2) in raids in the area including the old railway station, reportys Sarabangla.
The arrestees were Rabbi Al Ahmed (20), Md. Mamun (29), Md. Sohag 25, Joy Barua Prakash Abdul (18), Md. Azim Prakash Azam (22), Delwar Hossain Prakash Delu (37), Md. Mamun (18), Md. Al Amin Sheikh, (21), Md. Rubel (30), Md. Bashir (25), Md. Mintu (30), Md. Shahadat Hossain Babu (28), Joynal Abedin (19), Md. Zaheer (28) and Ledu Prakash Alauddin Prakash Hasan (30).
Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Police Station (MoC) Mohammad Mohsin said, “They are subdivided into groups of 3-4 while getting involved in robbing. Each team consists of 3-4. They stay in crowded places like railway stations, bus stops, mass transit where passengers stop. At first the target person is pushed or embarrassed in any way and takes the mobile out of his pocket without talking or arguing. ‘
