DOT Desk: Bangladesh becomes Emerging Asia Cup group champion beating Nepal by 8 wickets in the last and 3rd match at Savar yesterday. The host side secured the semi-final with this win,reports Daily Bangladesh.
Bangladesh picked up 8 wicket win over relatively weakened Nepal in their last match of the group stage at BKSP on Monday. Skipper Nazmul Hossain Shanto (59* off 56) was the top scorer for Bangladesh. Naeem Sheikh scored 45 off 56 balls.
In reply to Nepal’s 138. Soumya Sarkar and Naeem Sheikh added 34 runs in the opening pair. Then skipper Shanto and Naeem added 79 runs in the 2nd wicket stand.
Naeem went out to 113. But Shanto remains unbeaten and left the field after ensuring the win with Yasir Ali (18). Bangladesh reached the target keeping 156 balls in hand.
Earlier, Bangladesh wins the toss and asked Nepal to bat. But Nepal lost 8 wickets to 85 runs. But Sompal Kami’s 38 and Karan KC’s 18 helped the visiting side to post 138.
Suman Khan and Minhajul Abedin Afridi took 3 wickets each for Bangladesh. In addition, Tanvir Islam and Mehdi Hasan took two wickets each.
