The price of rice in kg has been reported to have increased from Tk. 2-5 in both retail and wholesale markets of the capital.
Minket rice is being sold at Tk 50, Atash rice is being sold at Tk.40, Nazi rice is being sold at Tk. 55-60 in the retail market of Karwan Bazar in the capital. Bablu, an employee of a shop of Kawran Bazaar said that the price of all kinds of rice in KG has gone up by Tk. 5.
Hasan Mahmud, an employee of Barisal Rice Mill, said that the price of rice per sack (50 kg) has increased from Tk. 100-150.
Belal Hossain, owner of Chatkhil Rice Agency, said rice prices have risen a bit since the season ended.
President of Naogaon paddy association, Nirudh Chandra Saha, said the prices of miniket rice have increased a bit.
General Secretary of Bangladesh Auto Major and Hocking Mill Owners’ Association, Laayak Ali, said that the government was trying to raise the price of rice. Senior secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Nasiruzzaman said that we want farmers to get fair value. However, Secretary of Commerce Zafar Uddin did not comment and would only comment on the rice after observing the market, reports Sarabangla.net.
