A procession was taken out at Dhaka University (DU) protesting the attack on the students’ rallying for the removal of Jahangirnagar University (JU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Farzana Islam yesterday. After the rally,Vice President (VP) of Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU)Md Nurul Haque questioned the need for Members of Parliament (MPs), Ministers’ or Secretaries, reports Sara Bangla. He stated, “Taking recent events into account, it is abundantly evident that for any form of justice can only be served if the Prime Minister order’s it. In which case, what do MPs-Ministers-Secretaries actually do? Let them dismissed from employment.”
He added, “Chattra League (BCL a student front of Awami League) goes around and attacks any student movement they wish. They have become terrorists. Their brutality not only affects educational institutions, but the entire nation.”
Akhtar Hossain, Secretary of DACSU Social Services said at the rally, that the public is now aware of the rampant corruption at JU. While of those involved in the aforementioned corrupt acts, the president and general secretary of BCL have been removed however, the VC remains. When the students protested this injustice, BCL attacked them. He provided that it was believed that after Abrar Fahad was murdered by BCL members, that they would remove themselves from the equation, but sadly this was not the case.
