In Kaptai Lake, fishermen have caught the African banned fish Piranha. The Piranha fish that has been caught weighs more than 2 kg 800 grams. Fisherman Jasim Uddin caught the fish when it was floating. While he brought the fish for selling in local market, the people there got curious. Locals later informed the Upazila Fisheries Department. Officials from Upazila Fisheries Department came to the market. They stopped the fishermen from selling the fish. Bangladesh Fisheries Development Corporation (BFDC) Langadu Upazila Officer Akbar Hossain said, “It is alarming for us to find such monstrous fish in Kaptai Lake. If the fish is in the lake, it will destroy other fishes. May be somewhere this fish is being cultivated in the pond. And from there the Piranha fish has come into the lake”, reports Sarabangla.com.
