Tiger, kangaroo, giraffe are dying in Safari Park

Due to lack of maintenance, various animals are dying at the Gazipur Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park. In the meantime the tiger has died, the existence of the kangaroo has disappeared, and many peacocks have flown from the peacock’s bush. Different animals, including giraffes died. Authorities say this situation due to lack of manpower and maintenance, reports Sarabangla.net
It has been reported that since the establishment of Safari Park in 2013, five tigers have been died so far. Four more tigers have died here before. Currently there are 12 tigers in the park’s core safari.
Kangaroo’s last two wives, died earlier this year. It ends the existence of kangaroo in the park. In addition, Orix, Giraffe and the Black Wild Beast have also been out of companionship. Due to lack of maintenance, the Black Swan has been hunted by fox. In addition, at least 10 zebras, 10-12 deer have died in the last few years. A chitra Deer died by an attacked of dog.
Peacock nest’s situation is even worse. The net has been scattered at various places. As a result, many peacocks are taking shelter in the localities and deep forests. Many birds have flown. Park workers also say peacocks and birds have flown deep forest due to the net being torn down.
Visitors complain that there is a lot of mismanagement in the park. Inside the core safari park, tigers and lions do not often appear, not seen the Giraffe.
However, the assistant forest conservator in charge of the park, Tabibur Rahman said, the maintenance was not done since the park was established. Now a lot of work has been started. Construction of several sheds, including peacock shades, tiger shed, lion shed, is under way, many tenders are in process.
The government is sincere in this regard and I hope that the problems that are small in the next 6 months will be resolved.
Citing workforce a major problem, he said maintenance of the park requires at least 100 people. This is a huge park running with only 20 people. In addition, 30 people were paid through outsourcing. We have asked the authorities to solve these problems.
This year, the government received about Tk 10 crore as revenue from Safari Park. From the revenue, about 5 thousand animals are being feed. However, more revenue can be earned if the management system is improved.
