Sylhet city to have ’emergency lane’

Sylhet city Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury is dreaming to have an ‘emergency lane’ in Sylhet city. Only ambulances, fire services, law and order vehicles operate along this lane.
The mayor said, he plans to open an emergency lane in Sylhet City.This plans is in early stage now. He will work on this issue in the future. He also said, the lane will be introduced not for the VIPs, basically we want such a lane for emergency movements of critical patients on ambulances. Besides, fire service and police sometimes require such an emergency lane.
He announced, As a part of plan “Nagar Express” bus service will be launched in Sylhet from next September. A total of 40 buses will run from Tukerbazar to Hatimganj, Surma Market to Rashidpur, Tukerbazar to Botteswar and Hajiganj to the airport.
This is the first step to improve urban transportation in Sylhet city. He then plans to implement the emergency lane.
However, emergency lanes are seen on the roads in all civilized and developed countries of the world. The culture of emergency lanes has not developed in Bangladesh yet.
