DOT Desk: Sir Fazle Hasan Abed has retired from the post of chairman of the governing body of the world’s largest non-governmental organization Brac.
This confirmation came with an announcement at a dinner on Tuesday night at the Brac center in the capital, reports Daily Bangladesh.
The announcement added that he will be still the honorary ‘Chair Emeritus’ of the company despite leaving the post of chairperson. Besides Former caretaker government adviser Dr Hossain Zillur Rahman has been appointed as the new chairperson for Brac.
Sir Fazle Hasan Abed founded the Brac in 1972.
Brac has operations in 13 countries of Asia, Africa and America including 64 districts of Bangladesh. The British government awarded Fazle Hasan Abed knighthood in recognition of his special role in poverty alleviation and empowerment of the poor.
