5 injured in Keraniganj’s eviction drive faces hitch

Yesterday a group of miscreant attacked a team of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) during an eviction drive at Postogola along the Buriganga riverbank leaving an executive magistrate and four members of the team injured, reports UNB.
The BIWTA team, led by an executive magistrate, began the drive in the morning.
BIWTA Dhaka River Port Joint Director AKM Arif Uddin said that at a moment, when the team tried to evict a sand quarry, a group of people equipped with bamboo sticks swooped on the team, leaving five people injured with executive magistrate Mostafizur Rahman.
Afterwards, a police team went to the spot and arrested one named Bappi while the others managed to escape from the spot, he said.
