After three wins, Bangladesh ended its World Cup journey. Although receiving the bitter taste of loss in five matches, 1 of the games was cancelled due to rain. After Australia’s win against South Africa on Saturday, Bangladesh became the 8th team in the World-Cup, reports Bangla Insider.
This time around the International Cricket Council (ICC) had arranged for prize money for the winners of all the matches.
Normally, the millions of fans of the Tigers are curious. How much money did the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) really receive?
For every match won on the group stage, ICC allocated prize money of 40,000 dollars. If converted to taka, then it is approximately 34 lakh. As a result of winning three matches, Bangladesh is set to receive 1 lakh 20 thousand dollars. Which means, by only defeating West Indies, Afghanistan and South Africa, the BCB is set to receive 1 crore and 1.5 lakh taka in prize money.
The BGB is also set to receive money from the match that was washed away by the rain. Without even having to play, they’re set to receive 20 thousand dollars. Due to the cancellation of the match, the prize money is to be split amongst the two teams. That money in Bangladesh currency is 17 lakh taka.
Aside from that, the groups who played in the World-Cup are going to receive 1 lakh in dollars from the Cricket Regulatory Body. In taka that amounts 84 lakh.
In total, the Bangladesh Cricket Board is set to receive over 20,000,000 taka from the world-Cup in England.
