Marine Fisheries Academy of Bangabandhu is seeking our PM’s kind attention
Nayeemul Islam Khan , The Editor :
The Marine Fisheries Academy (MFA), established by Bangabandhu in Chittagong; has been seeking our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s kind attention for a long time. Prior to the 100th birth anniversary of Bangabandhu in 2020, it demands visit of our PM and development of strategic plan for its expansion.
I personally visited MFA and I found the students, teachers, officials of MFA, the relevant ministry and the Minister himself are longing for the kind attention of our PM.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman founded this MFA on September 1, 1973 in Chittagong. The activities of MFA started with the support of the then Soviet Union. As new opportunities for blue economy have been created through the expansion of the marine boundary of Bangladesh as a result our PM’s continuous effort, MFA deserves both expansion and modernization.
Those who pass from MFA do not remain employed and few get employment opportunities before completing their course.
Considering the bright future of blue economy in this country, the possibility of creating a skilled workforce; admission opportunities of the students in MFA need to be increased. Moreover, as time demands; new departments need to be established, laboratories and academic buildings need to be expanded with modern technology and residential facilities for the employees and students need to be expanded.
