Joshua Kelley is a U.S. Naval officer serving up fierceness. Kelley is a squadron supervisor by day. But at night he slays. The 24-year-old started the popular lip-sync battle as a regular for his squadron. He said , ‘I had a standing ovation. It was truly inspirational and truly gratifying to me to be able to touch so many people’s lives, who have never seen a drag queen before and change their thoughts and give them that experience to them’.Kelly joined the Navy 2016 to build his leadership skills. He said , the reason why I joined why I joined was because the Navy gave me the challenge that I needed in my life to do more, and everything else , and to help me grow and build myself as a young adult. He says the Navy has been a big support. There’s been no really backlashes at all directed to me or against me in any form or way. Everyone amazed of the amount of bravery, the amount of boldness, the amount of beauty that it took to go out on stage.
His inspiration to do drag came at age 16, When he saw Ru Paul’s Drag Race. He said , Everything in my life just clicked. I’m from a small town so we don’t get the opportunity to see little more diversity than really what there is out there. That’s men dressing up as women and creativity and just killing choreography, dance, theater, comedy, everything else in between and everything I’ve ever done in my life.
