Relatives vandalise clinic in Meherpur over patient’s death
Desk Report: Angry relatives of a patient went on rampage and vandalised a private clinic in Sadar upazila following the death of a man due to alleged wrong treatment.
The victim, Abdul Khalek, 45, of Govipur village in sadar upazila admitted to Taher Clinic in the district town as one of his veins was severed accidentally while cutting bamboos on Wednesday.
Upon arrival, Dr Abu Taher, owner of the clinic, took him to the operation theatre for a surgery, but the victim succumbed to his injuries on the operation table. When the news spread, the relatives of the patient gathered in front of the clinic in the evening and vandalised several rooms of the clinics.
On information, police rushed there and brought the situation under control, said Rabiul Alam, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
