Sayeed Muhammad: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has laid emphasis on undertaking a far-reaching plan for improving the life and livelihood of the people.
“Bangladesh is a deltaic region where population density is much more. So, we need a far-reaching plan for further improving the life and livelihood of the people,” she said yesterday, reports BSS.
The premier was addressing a function arranged on the occasion of the presentation of the final draft of the Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100 at the Prime Minister’s Office in the capital on Wednesday morning.
After the meeting, her Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters. Planning Commissioner Member Dr Shamsul Alam made the power point presentation on the final draft of the plan, praising her for various aspects and benefits of the plan. Stressing the need for regular dredging of the rivers and reopening the previous river routes, Hasina said the erosion of rivers including Padma, Jamuna, Meghna and Arial Khan is a common phenomenon in the country. Pointing out to the flood that the country experiences almost every year, Sheikh Hasina said there are both advantages and disadvantages of the flood.
