2 more ‘drug peddlers’ killed in ‘gunfights’
Sofian Khan: Two more alleged drug peddlers were killed in two separate “gunfights” in Tangail and Rangpur yesterday on the ongoing anti-narcotics drive countrywide.
One of the deceased was killed in a reported gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and the other one in a “gun fight” between two groups of yaba traders. With the latest incidents, the tally has stood at 131.
A “gunfight” between drug peddlers and RAB in Tangail has left a suspected drug peddler dead. According to RAB, Chhoto Ruhul alias Kailla Ruhul (28) was accused in several cases, including a drug-related one.
According to commander of crime prevention company-3 of RAB-12, Major Rabiul Islam, a team of RAB-12 launched the drive around 2:30 am.
Sensing their presence, the criminals opened fire prompting them to retaliate. Ruhul’s body was discovered following the gunfight with bullet wounds. He was declared dead after taken to Tangail General Hospital.
The another one, Rafiqul Islam, was killed during a “gunfight” between two drug dealers gangs, said additional superintendent of Rangpur police Saifur Rahman. His body was sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
