Prof. Dr. Syed Anwar Hossain, Historian : Being the best and the most profitable investment, the education sector should be allocated with the maximum portion of the national budget.
This is because increased allocation for the education sector means increased investment. This is believed in every part of the world. This is the only investment, which in the long run, will gradually benefit the nation.
Announcing the budget is not a big deal; what matters is how the budget is being spent.
We often realize the deprived education sector lacks quality. Increased allocation cannot guarantee quality. Rather, recruiting qualified teachers and ensuring quality in administration can do so.
This initiative will only succeed if only we can ensure this sector does not get politicized. And if we can’t and value for quality is considered worthless, it does not seem the increased allocation will lead to any benefit at all.
