‘No gridlock on Dhaka-Tangail highway ahead of Eid’
Abrar Hussain: Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has pledged yesterday that there will be no possibility of gridlock on the Dhaka-Tangail highway, claiming the road condition much better than before ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr this year. “The construction works have already been completed and all the potholes are also repaired on Bypile-Abdullahpur highway,” said Obaidul Quader.
The minister made the statements in response to journalists’ queries while inspecting the work on Nabinagar-Chandra highway in Ashulia.
When asked about the Nabinagar-Chandra highway, he said, “Construction work of the four-lane highway is almost done. Whatever is left will be completed before Eid.”
Quader also expressed hope that the construction work of Abdullahpur EPZ Elevated Expressway will begin this October.
Regarding the ongoing ‘war-on-drugs’, Quader said, “No matter how big a drug peddler is, he/she will be punished if allegations against him are proved, regardless of his political identity, Awami League or BNP,” adding that even Abdur Rahman Bodi, the lawmaker from Cox’s Bazar-4 (Ukhia-Teknaf), will not be exempted if allegations against him are proved.
