BNP to foil ‘evil plans’ of vote rigging in Gazipur polls says Moudud
Sejuti Mourin: In light of the allegations in the recent Khulna elections, BNP senior leader Moudud Ahmed has announced that their party is engaged in developing strategies to foil the ‘evil plans’ of the ruling party to rig the upcoming Gazipur election.
“It was the election of police and Rab, not of people, in Khulna. It was also not a fair and credible election there. Now they (AL) are out to hold the Gazipur polls in Khulna style,” he said at a discussion in Dhaka. The BNP leader pledged ‘all-out efforts ‘ from their party leaders and activists so that the ruling party cannot hold the Gazipur polls similar to in Khulna.Moudud also hinted at harsher initiatives after Eid-ul-Fitr as he said it is the only way to realize their demands and free their chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail, reports UNB.”I admit that it’s not possible to ensure Khaleda Zia’s release through court and peaceful action programs. I think street agitation is the only way.” The BNP leader further added, “No public demand could be realised without a movement. We must choose the path which is conducive to realising our demands. We’ll have to take the path of tougher action programme after the Ramadan month.”
