Stay alert to face internal, external threats: PM to army

Sofian Khan:Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday asked the Army to stay alert of facing any sort of internal and external threats to safeguard country’s constitution and sovereignty.”You’ll have to always remain ready to face any internal or external threats unitedly for protecting the sacred constitution and sovereignty of the motherland,” she said while inaugurating 27 projects for different cantonments from Dhaka Cantonment through a videoconference.A cancer centre at Dhaka Cantonment, fertility centre, edible oil mill and various housing and training facilities are many of the 27 projects opened yesterday for the members of the army.Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq, Chief of Army Staff General delivered the welcome address while PM’s Security Adviser Major General (retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddiq was present at the dais.”Bangladesh Army is our asset and a symbol of confidence and trust of the people…so, you will have to be more professionally-efficient and welfare-minded consisting of social and religious values,” said the Prime Minister underscoring the army as an asset for the country.The Premier also expressed that the present army members will work with utmost sincerity to complete their duties with confidence on their superiors while maintaining mutual trust, sympathy, sense of brotherhood and responsibility, dutifulness and discipline.
