Sabah Mannan: The France Embassy on Sunday expressed heartiest appreciation to the government and the people of Bangladesh for entering a new era after the successful launch of the Bangabanhdu-1 satellite on May 11. According to UNB’s report, the embassy’s statement further added that the Bangabandhu-1 satellite will unfold new opportunities for Bangladesh in broadcasting, weather forecasting and delivering high-speed internet connectivity to remote areas. Showing support to the satellite Bangabandhu-1 project from its inception, France thanked the designer and manufacturer of the satellite; Thales Alenia Space and also launching company Space X for their victory. While the satellite Bangabandhu is running smoothly towards its orbit, initial connections have already been established with Gazipur and Rangamati ground stations making Bangladesh the 57th nation in the world and the fourth in South Asia to own a communication satellite.
