DU student dies after falling from mango tree on campus

Sayeed Muhammad: A first year student of the Dhaka University (DU) died as he fell off a mango tree on the campus yesterday. The deceased Towfique Omar, 23, was a student of Urdu Department. Originally from Satkhir5a district, he had been residing at Poet Jasimuddin Hall of the university, reports UNB.DU Proctor Golam Rabbani said Towfique along with some of his friends went to pluck mangoes from a tree in front of the university’s Central Mosque in the early hours.All on a sudden he fell from the tree around 2am, a thus, sustaining critical injuries, prompting his friends to rush him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.But he was later shifted him to Japan-Bangladesh Friendship Hospital. The ill-fated finally succumbed to his injuries at the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) around 1pm.The hospital authorities handed over the body to the DU authorities an hour later.
