Raj Abrar: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has advised ministries and divisions yesterday to improve infrastructure for the expansion, development and strengthening the monitoring of scouting in every district.The Premier pledged to provide the necessary government assistance to )make scouts as eligible citizens of Bangladesh in order to lead the nation into the future.”You must get yourselves ready as eligible citizens and work imbued with patriotism,” she requested the scouts while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the 5-day long 6th National Community Development Camp (COMDECA) of Bangladesh Scouts at Haimchar in Chandpur. She asked the rovers and scouts to further strengthen their altruistic activities through expanding scouting in educational institutions as well as community-based scouting. Hasina explained that directives have already been given to authorities to introduce at least two Cub Scouts, scout and rover scout units in every educational institution as well as one girl-in- scout unit in each of the girls’ educational institutions and the institutions having co-education system. The government wants children to be well-educated with proper mentality and to root out terrorism, militancy and drugs from society, she said. The Prime Minister praised the role of scouts in times of calamity and disasters, adding that their successful participation in various humanitarian activities has enhanced the image of the country. Some 7,000 scouts and rover scouts are taking part in this year’s COMDECA.
