PM urges youths to realise Bangladesh dream with ICT

The four day mega event “Digital World 2017” was inaugurated by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina along with world’s first robot ‘citizen’ Sophia around 12.10 pm on Wednesday at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital. The mega-event is visioned to urge the youths to be ‘Ready for Tomorrow’ and make Bangladesh’s dream with the ICT sector come true.While launching the expo the PM said, “We have wielded the youths with latest IT technology. So the whole world in their fist now and I hope that they will take the country for ward and make the dream of Bangabandhu true.”
The PM is visioned that the ICT sector will soon be one of the biggest contributors in Bangladesh’s economic development by 2021. She was hopeful as promising youths of the country have already shown their capability in this field. “Bangladesh’s economy is progressing fast with 7.28 percent annual growth. We won’t need to have a look at any other sector if we can exploit the potentialities of the ICT,” said Sheikh Hasina. The premier also added, if these youths are given with required instruments, can easily adapt to any new invention. This sector is of a huge possibilities for them. The country will be able to make 5 times more foreign exchange earnings than it does now through this. Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Post and Telecommunications and Information and Communication Technology Imran Ahmed and President of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) Mustafa Jabbar also spoke on the occasion with State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak in the chair – reports BSS. The PM also mentioned that her government is continuously making constant efforts to build the youths as self reliant through training them on jobs in IT sector. Bangladesh because of its yourth’s contributions on freelancing/outsourcing was placed among ten top largest freelancing organizations in the world. By 2021, the PM is visioned of two million Bangladeshi youths joining the ICT sector.
