President Md. Abdul Hamid will be traveling to remote area of Char Fasson Upazila, to inaugurate the tallest watch-tower of Bangladesh, ‘Jakob Tower’. The tower gets its name from its initiator, local MP and Deputy Minister of Environment & Forests, Abdullah Al Islam Jakob. Char Fasson Upazila is situated in the far-south of the Vola district, the only island of Vola. The Jacob Tower has been established by the Khashmahal Mashjid & Fasson square. Local government completed its construction with the funding from the ministry. Architecture Kamruzzaman Liton designed this tower. It took 4 years to complete this great 215 feet tall tower, at the expense of 20 crores taka. Besides the stairs, the tower facilitates a modern capsule lift that takes to its top. Its needles can have 16 people at a time, and the whole tower 8-richter scale earthquake resistant. The beautiful tower is covered with thick glass covering on aluminum frames, informs MP Islam Jakob. He also added that, there will be several entertainment facilities on the 17th floor of the tower. Over 200 tourist can stay on that floor and look over miles of beauty of Kukri-Mukri, Taruya islands & others, via binoculars. The tower also has special places to relax, first-aids & restaurants.
