Govt gets another week to publish judges’ conduct rules

The supreme court has granted a week more for the government to issue a gazette notification on conduct rules of lower court judges. Chief Justice Abdul Wahhab Miah, leading a five-member Appellate Division bench passed the order or Sunday morning. During to the new grants, the government will get up to December 10 for issue the gazette notification. The supreme court on the same date has set the next hearing of this matter.Anisul Huq, the Law Minister on November 30 said that the draft of the gazette has been sent to the PM’s office by his ministry. As the PM’s consent to the draft is received, it will be forwarded to the president’s office. The much-awaited gazette notification will be issued by the Law Ministry upon the president’s approval.
Anisul Huq expressed his hopes with the acting Chief Justice Abdul Wahhab Miah that if the president permits, the gazette notification would be issued before December 3. On the late November 5, the supreme court extended time to publish the gazette notification for the government up to December 3. This was the 30th time the Appellate Division extended time in the last one year at this regard.
