5 indicted in Rupa murder case
On Wednesday a court staged charge against five accused which was filed over the murder of Zakia Sultana Rupa after gang rape in a running bus. She was a law student and a employee of multinational company.Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal acting Judge also Tangail District and Sessions Judge Rabiul Hasan ordered rejection of discharge petition and bail petition filed by the accused.The court also set January 3 the next record discharge of witnesses in the case.On October 25, a court here accepted the chargesheet against the accused bus driver Habibur, supervisor Safar Ali and helpers Shamim, Akram and Jahangir in the case. While returning to Mymensingh from Bogra on August 25, 27 year old Rupa was murdered after gang rape in the running bus.On that night from Panchmail area of Madhupur upazila police recovered her body. She was buried at the town central graveyard as unclaimed body after post-mortem. Later, the victim’s relatives identified her by seeing her photograph.On August 28, police arrested the five accused from Mymensingh over the killing of Rupa.On August 31, police disinterred the body of Rupa and handed it over to her family for funeral in a proper manner.Rupa completed her Masters from Bogra Azizul Haque College and was studying law at Dhaka Ideal Law College. She was also working at Unilever Bangladesh Limited at its Sherpur branch.
