Primary, Ebtedayee terminal exams from today

Primary School Certificate (PSC) and Ebtedayee Examinations this year begins today. The exams will continue till 26 November. Examination on English would be held on the first day. A number of 30, 96, 075 students sit for the exams, including 28,04,509 appearing in PSC and 2,91,566 in Madrassa (Ebtadayee), according to officials of the primary and mass education ministry quoted in media. Among the PSC examinees, girls outnumbered boys by 15,04,524 to 12, 99,985. In Ebtadayee, 1,53, 152 boys and 1,38, 414 girls are taking part. The exams will be held at 7276 centres within the country and 12 abroad. Last year, total number of students appeared in the exams were 32, 30, 288. Primary and mass education minister Mustafizur Rahman Fizar told media in a recent press conference 2,953 children with special needs are taking the PSC exams while 379 Ebtadayee. A 20-minute extra time has been allowed for them in each exam.
