The restaurant industry has a sexual harassment problem too, and 60% of women in the U.S. have dealt with it. At celebrity chef John Besh’s restaurants 25 women affirmed culture of harassment. In a survey of 688 current and former restaurant workers,2/3 of women divulged sexual harassment from managers and 80% reported it from co-workers. American celebrity Chef Tom Coliccino asked industry leaders to take action and put an end to this and start supporting women. In 2015, more than 79% of chefs and head chefs were male, and in the same roles women were paid 20% less on average. But in 2016, for the first time more women enrolled in the Culinary Institute of America than men since the school opened in 1946.
