Powered by Dhaka Bank, supported by Microsoft, presented by Meril, in association with GP Music, Maasranga Television as the broadcasting partner, with The Westin Dhaka as hospitality partner and Square Hospital as medical partner, Dhaka International Folk Festival is organized by Sun Event this year. This event is held for 3 days (November 9-10) in capital’s Army Stadium from 6 pm to 1 am. Today is the third and last day of the festival. The entry to the festival is free but the attendants registered online which bounded from November 1-5. Folk artiste from seven countries is taking part in this festival.On the day of opening, Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith was present as the chief guest. Chairman and CEO of Sun Communications Anjan Chowdhury and Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sajeed Khokon were also present.The opening night of the folk music event was performed by Fakir Shahabuddin and the Brazilian Mauricio Tizumba and Sextet performed traditional Samba music (Brazilian music genre). Papon from Assam and, Tenzin Cheogyal from Tibet, Abdur Rahman Baul, Tuntun Baul, Momtaz Begum and Javed Bashir also performed.Second day of the Festival was featured by the duet performance of Bangladeshi artistes Baul Sahfi Mondal and Labik Kamal and solo performnace by Jalal, Latif Sarkar and Prosad. There were also international artistes like Karen Lugo and Ricardo Moro’s performance. As a showstopper, Kailash Kher and renowned Indo-Franco artiste Paban Das Baul performed solos.Today, the final day of the event is performed by Sunil Karmokar, Islamuddin Kissakar, Bari Siddiqui, Taposh and Friends of Bangladesh, Nooran Sisters and Paban Das Baul of India and Sam Mills of the UK featuring Susheela Raman of the UK.
