Aung San Suu Kyi received the Nobel Prize for her contribution to peace. This was arranged by the United States of America. Why did USA do this? – To build new ties with Myanmar and conclude Myanmar’s relationship with China. For instance, there was a purpose for Bangladesh’s Dr Yunus to win the Nobel Prize. Similarly, there was a motive for Suu Kyi to win and this is what renowned Economist, Educationist and Political Commentator Prof. Abul Kashem Fazlul Haque believes. Prof. Abul Kashem Fazlul Haque states that Suu Kyi possesses two good qualities; intelligence and honesty. She isn’t enslaved to USA. Her father was the President and leader of Myanmar’s freedom movement but she couldn’t be elected as President due to her husband’s foreign status. However, she has no such power now but is the leader of a ruling party of Myanmar and we are all aware of the present condition of her party. Nevertheless, Suu Kyi’s party is doing fairly well but her opinion about the Rohingya issue is the same as the military’s. Diplomatically, Suu Kyi agreed upon taking back the Rohingyas but will it actually happen?
Prof. Abul Kashem Fazlul Haque also remarked that if the world expects something from Suu Kyi then it would be the military rule taking over Myanmar. There might also be a possibility of the military removing Suu Kyi’s party and issuing Martial law.
