The Election Commission (EC) has directed not to harass the expatriates with any national service card related information. The EC has sent a letter to all field officials to give priority to expatriates in all areas including registration of new voters. If there is a complain about harassment to any expatriate instead of serving to field officials, then actions will be taken against the concerned lawmakers. Recently, Director General of the National Identity Registration Department Brigadier General Mohammad Saidul Islam sent this directive to all regional, district, upazila / thana election officials.EC officials said that according to the existing rules, to get the new voters, they have to go to the concerned upazila / thana election office by submitting proofs and documents along with the application form. If you can show all required documents and proofs, then the rest of the activities, including data entry, photographs, and fingerprint are taken for voters to vote. According to the new guidelines, not all documents required to be submitted immediately, the expatriates will be given data entry, photographs, fingerprints, and if the person is not present, even if someone submits necessary papers to him, it has been instructed to do his job. No service to contract NID correction is now given to the Commission Secretary. Currently, all the NID related services are provided to 517 Upazilas / Thana Election Offices of the country. Although the NID was initially redeemed or lost, the Commission started charging from 1st September, 2015.
