Election Commission sat with all the political parties, social society, journalists & many others, who will be involved in the upcoming parliamentary election. Many of them requested EC to make it possible for the expatriates to vote as well. But, this will be highly difficult to both implement & coordinate, said EC Additional Secretary Md. Mokhlesur Rahman.
First, EC will have to go every embassies in order to collect necessary information. Second, the election system in Bangladesh requires to have 300 separate sets of ballot boxes & forms for each parliamentary seats. Providing with all these resources, again for all the different states in several countries, will be tremendously difficult & costly. But at least, EC is still considering about providing NID for the expatriates, he added.
