Waterlogged Roads: None Ready To Claim Responsibility

Written by: Eshan Maitra

Heavy or little, Dhaka roads get easily water-logged. Citizens are suffering on seasonal basis every years. Meanwhile, City Corporation (CC) Mayors and WASA are just bouncing off responsibilities about sorting the waterlogging issue. While mayors argue that, they don’t have any power about this matter and WASA is cooperation. WASA points out, no fresh-water supplying organizations are involved with managing contaminated & dirty. WASA also mentions that, Chittagong is nothing different.

Though WASA was appointed with responsibilities to clean out rain-water in 1989. They are stepping out from being directly involved & not minding about improving drainage system or anything else. Hence, the accusations are pilling against the City Corporation.

CC Mayors are visiting waterlogged areas of Dhaka to comfort the citizens. They are claiming to be working on taking over the drainage system from the WASA. Then, the situation might get better.
