The tragic and horrible fire at a two-storied house in Nimtoli took away lives of 124 & more, on 3 June 2010. Residents still cry-out morning remembering their lost closed ones. This house bears the mark that, how unsafe the establishments of Old-Dhaka are. To this day, Nimtoli is still not free of risk.

Fire-Service believes that, the heavily crowded residents become the key-problems during their rescue missions. Including Nimtoly, 76% of the connecting passages to houses in Old-Dhaka, are too narrow for service cars to enter. There isn’t legit roads in Old-Dhaka. It will be a struggle if any of such accident or earth-quake occurs in these areas, tenses Fire Service & Civil Defense Operation Director Major Shaki Newaj.  On the other hand, City Corporation is focusing on implying stricter rules against chemical storing, said Dhaka-South City Corporation Mayor Sayeed Khokon. He also mentioned that, there are countless fire-hazards in un-organized shops of inflammable & combustible objects. Though, the sellers always claim to have the situation under control. City Corporation investigator & inspectors always finds out unsafe management.
