Buriganga’s Toxic Water Seeping into Turag, Dead Fishes Floating Everywhere

Buriganga is long gone due to wastes and poor flow management. Now its poisonous water also seeping through its veins to Turag River. Riverbank residents of Turag River are collecting afloat dead fishes for past two days. People are panicking over this event. This will significantly affect the fishermen and general people of riverbank area, expresses experts. They are urging the Government to take a fast step toward prevent any further serious epidemic.  Locals said that, tides streamed Burgiganga River’s water to Turag during the full-moon period on Wednesday. Through the Basila & Gabtoli point. From smaller fishes Mola-Dhela, Chengra-Puti to feet-long Shol-Boyal fishes are dying away in the Truag River. Even, if any fish alive. Its suffering limp body is just floating on the water. People in Shavar, Mirpur & Ashuliya areas by the bank of Turag, collecting fishes from the crowd of water-hyacinth, just by hands. Only in Mograkanda, Savar areas, over 2.5 lacs taka worth dead-fishes were sold, claim the locals.
