Then there were characters that did not really make any sense. For example, why is the little sister such a brat? Why does she hate UEE? What happens to unni in the end? But the most nonsensical character of all HAS to be the big brother. Let me just quote him here- “Father loves me. He will never throw me away. That’s the knot between our relationship. That’s why I chose to disappear. Unless I’m reborn, Father and I can’t be separated.” Erm…*scratches head* what?
The only good thing about the show are the secondary leads. It is not like the writing around them was any better than that around the leads, but what made them the stars of the show was their heartfelt performances. They made the yearning, magnetism and warmth in their relationship feel natural and believable.
For a show that is called High Society, it did not really make any sort of meaningful statement or draw a lesson-learned conclusion about high societies at all.
In the end, I feel that the writers just had an idea and did not really know what to do with, which is why they set up everything, without any development whatsoever, in such a way that everyone is conveniently positioned for the final happy ending. Sadly though, even the happy ending sucked and did not make any sense at all.
