EgyptAir hijacker surrenders, says Cyprus state TV

Desk Report
A man named Ibrahim Samaha, an Egyptian who was assumed to have been strapped with dangerous volatiles or explosives, boarded and hijacked an Egyptian plane (Airbus 320) from Alexandria heading towards Cairo on Tuesday. Some Egyptian officials said that the plane was forced to land in Cyprus. According to Egypt Air, as the plane landed at the Lamaca airport in Cyprus, the hijacker liberated all the hostages on board except for four overseas passengers and the crew. CYBC believes that the hijacker had personal motivates for the crime as they discovered that he has an ex-wife living in Cyprus. Reports from Egypt’s Civil Aviation Ministry suggest that the plane’s pilot, Omar al-Gammal informed the officials that a passenger wearing an explosives belt threatened him and forced him to land the plane in Lamaca.
