A court here on Monday sentenced a girl to death for killing her boyfriend in the city in 2014.
The convict was identified as Fatema Akhter Sonali, 21.
According to the prosecution, police recovered the body of Imdadul Haque Shipon, a final year student of Khulna Science & Technology College, from Goragate colony in the city on March 8, 2014.
Two pieces of liver were found by the body.
Victim’s brother M Babul Miah filed a case against some unidentified people with Sonadanga Police Station in this connection.
Police arrested Shipon’s girlfriend Sonali on March 15 in the same year. Later, Sonali confessed to her involvement in the killing before a court.
Sonali slaughtered her boyfriend after feeding him 20 sleeping pills mixing with soft drinks as she came to know that Shipon had been involved in affairs with 5-6 more girls.
Later, police arrested Anik following the confession of Sonali.
On April 30, 2014, police pressed charges against Sonali and Anik.
After examining documents, Judge of Khulna Additional Metropolitan Session’s Judge Court Dilruba Sultana handed down the verdict acquitting Anik.
